“Breaking News” is an interactive public art intervention, first launched in Liverpool in 2018, that creatively responded to live global events by mixing content from passers-by with international news headlines, imagery, and audio streams. An updated version, “Breaking News 3.0,” developed for Design Manchester, featured augmented public interaction, allowing headlines to be posted from smartphones worldwide via a QR code, with the content refreshing every minute.
